The Guide: Navigating Parental Leave in CA

If you live in CA and want to make sure you are maxing out all of your job-protected and paid time off when you go on parental leave, you NEED this guide!

"Navigating all of the parental leave information out there very quickly became overwhelming for me as I clicked from website to website, tried to remember all the acronyms and tried calling the general helpline phone numbers and waited hours on hold. The Park Consulting's guide was so incredibly easy to navigate, included direct links for where I need to submit my applications and allowed me to quickly determine what my partner and I are eligible for and max out our parental leave options. I would recommend this guide over and over again to anyone expecting!

How would it feel to know you are getting the longest, paid parental leave possible?

Since I started The Park in 2021 I’ve worked with hundred of new and expecting parents to get them the longest paid parental leave possible. I’ve done all the research so you don’t have to and I packaged it up into my guide.

“I wholeheartedly would recommend working with Linzay!” I found navigating the whole parental leave process utterly confusing and intimidating, and Linzay answered all my questions and completely put me at ease.”

Not sure if the guide is right for you?

  • California offers two different paid parental leave programs:

    1. State Disability Insurance (SDI)

    2. Paid Family Leave (PFL)

To qualify for either program you need to have CASDI listed as a deduction on your paystub five to 18 months before your claim date, which is your first day of leave.

Need help determining if you qualify? Head here to find out.

  • Yes! You don’t need to be working to qualify for SDI and PFL. If you’ve worked in the last two years as a W2 employee in CA, paying into CASDI I can help you get paid for a minimum of 17 weeks, and likely more if you’re pregnant or recently gave birth, or if you’re a dad or non-birthing parents I can help you get at least 8 weeks of partially paid leave!

If you haven’t worked in over two years you likely will not qualify for SDI or PFL.

  • I 100% understand. On average, my clients make $19,890 over the course of their parental leave.

If you want to be sure you’ll make enough to cover the cost of this program, you can calculate your parental leave payout here.

If the pricing still does not work for you, email me and we can work something out. I want anyone who wants to max out their parental leave benefits be able to.

  • I offer 4 different options for new and expecting parents:

    1. One private consulting call. I recommend this option for those outside of CA.

    2. The Guide: Navigating Parental Leave in Ca. I recommend this for new and expecting parents in CA who are familiar with CA’s benefits, have an uncomplicated job history and do have a supportive, education HR person leading them.

    3. The CA Parental Leave Package. This is my most popular package for new and expecting parents in CA. The package offers a consulting call, the guide, a personalized parental leave timeline, and unlimited email support.

    4. The Ca OMG Package. This is the package for busy people who need someone to help keep everything on track for them and want to ensure they are getting the longest parental leave possible and the most amount of pay possible.

  • That’s amazing that your employer offers paid parental leave! But you might still qualify for more paid or unpaid leave beyond what your employer offers! I’ve worked with women who will take a minimum of 9 months off when combining CA’s leave with their employer’s leave!

I recommend the CA Parental Leave Package for anyone who get’s paid parental leave through their employer and wants to make sure they still are maxing out their CA parental leave benefits.

I missed out on thousands of dollars in CA parental leave benefits when I had my two daughters. I’ll make sure you don’t.
